The June issue of Glass International contains an exclusive interview with Peter Fitzgerald ahead of his imminent retirement from Encirc.

Peter discusses the company’s sustainability policies and the recent takeover by Vidrala. In this month’s personality profiles we welcome Jonathon Culley, new Business Development Director for Allied Glass, and Chris Hobbs, new Finance Director for Pennine Industrial, to the glass community.

We also have the Glassman Europe exhibition and conference reviews, following the success of the show held in Lyon earlier this year. During the conference, speakers from O-I, Ardagh, FEVE, Bucher Emhart and Stoelzle amongst others addressed the audience on a variety of topics surrounding ‘Energy efficiency and environmental solutions in the glass industry’.

Moving on to Glassman Latin America, held in Mexico’s Guadalajara in September, our company profile focuses on the family run M-Glass Factory Services (MGFS). A Mexican glass supplier that primarily serves the Latin American markets, the company is kept busy by the steady growth in the container glass industry in Mexico.

The company’s founder, Hans Mehl, notes: “Glass manufacturers [in Mexico] are expanding their production capabilities. Fuel efficiency and environmental control is becoming ever-more important. There is a large market in Mexico for companies offering products in these segments.” Our technical topic this month is forming, with features from Ocmi and Cortex Glass amongst others, and as always there is the usual mix of news, columns, and industry events.
