Survey identifies nonprofits with excellent leadership and quality work culture

For the second consecutive year, NGA was named one of the Best Nonprofits to Work For in 2024, by The NonProfit Times (NPT), a leading national business publication for nonprofit managers, and Best Companies Group. The survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best employers in the nonprofit industry. NGA ranked #2 out of 50 total organizations, and #1 in the small employer category.

Nonprofits from across the United States entered the two-part survey process to determine Best Nonprofits to Work For. The survey included: 1) an evaluation of each nominated organization's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics worth 25% of the total evaluation; and 2) an employee survey to measure the employee experience worth 75% of the total evaluation.

When asked “what aspects of NGA’s culture do you most value?” NGA staff noted the organization’s focus on work-life balance and wellbeing, and leadership that fosters a caring and collaborative team culture.

"It's truly energizing to be recognized a second year in a row," said Nicole Harris, President & CEO. "Coming first among small associations (less than 49 staff), and second place among so many impressive nonprofits across the United States, speaks to the unique combination of our work culture and our members, who are supportive and involved in everything we do."
